Au Pairs from EU countries can receive medical treatment in the
UK under reciprocal agreements with their own countries. They must
make sure they have the appropriate paperwork. Au Pairs from non-EU countries can receive emergency treatment
from Family Practitioners or Hospitals in the UK but may be charged
a fee in some situations. We strongly advise that all Au Pairs should have adequate personal
and medical insurance arranged prior to their departure from their
home country. This insurance should cover the cost of the Au Pair
returning to their own country should they have a serious accident
or illness and should cover them for travel to other countries during
their Au Pair stay. Pendleton May Insurance Brokers offer an excellent insurance specifically
for Au Pairs which we strongly recommend.
